Docman API user activation in EMIS

Training & Knowledge Updated by Training & Knowledge

This article will provide guidance to create an API user in EMIS to allow Docman and EMIS to integrate.

The API user facilitates the patient sync, the transfer of data both in and out of Docman and EMIS. A few brief steps as detailed below will allow this integration to be put in place.

Create a User in EMIS

The first step is to create a user in EMIS to use as a service account. Follow the steps below to create the user:

  1. Create a user account in EMIS, Set the Username and User Mnemonic to: DME2017
  2. Ensure the account is allocated the Practice Manager role. From the User role profiles, select the RBAC Role: Practice Manager (SJR004)
  3. Set a password
  4. Select the search box to the right of the additional RBAC Activities input box
  5. Search for and add the following codes:
  • Perform Detailed Health Record RBAC - B0380
  • View Clinical Documents RBAC - B8010
  • View Patient Demographics RBAC - B0820
  • View Summary Health Records RBAC - B0370
  • View System Configuration RBAC - ESC01

EMAS Manager

Once you have created the EMIS service user account, you must go to EMAS Manager.

  1. Go to System Tools > EMAS Manager
  2. Select Partner API, from the bottom left corner
  3. Scroll to find the Docman entry in the Partner API list
  4. Select the Docman entry
  5. Select Login Access
  6. Find the User Account created above
  7. Tick both Auto Login and Allow Login options
  8. Select Edit Users
  9. Find the User account created above, tick the box on the left, and select Change Password
  10. Input the Password set in the service user creation steps above
  11. Log in to EMIS using the credentials for the API user
When logging in, please ensure that you acknowledge ALL the EMIS user preference prompts (Contact details, email address, etc).

Sharing the API user credentials

Once the steps have been completed in full, and the user has been logged in and the user preferences acknowledged, the information must be shared with the team at OneAdvanced to ensure we can input the credentials and test the API connection between EMIS and Docman to aid a successful Go Live.

Details required:

  • Practice Name
  • NACS Code
  • EMIS Organisation Code
  • EMIS API User's Username
