Scanning onto the Desktop App
Updated
by John Austin
This article will describe how to capture documents. Both how to capture from a scanner and upload from from local folders.
To scan documents, the system will use the Desktop App. This should be installed on all PCs using Docman, and will update inline with system releases. The Desktop App is used as the link to the clinical system, using API credentials which will have been set up by your System Administrators.
To scan onto the Desktop App:
- From the menu bar, select the Filing tab.
- Select Scan from the Filing Actions menu on the right. This will open the Desktop App, which will connect to the local scanner.
- In the Desktop App window, select the Capture Options menu.
- Choose from Capture from Scanner or Capture from Folder. Images of the documents will be displayed in this window when captured.
- Individual pages can be filed from this screen quickly and easily by selecting the image and the green File button.
Alternatively, documents can be sent to a folder of your choice in the Filing screen by using one of the green Send to Folder options. This is useful if you have a separate Scanning and Filing process.
- Select or deselect each image by simply selecting the thumbnail.
- Once pages have been selected in the Desktop App Capture window, the Capture Options bar populates on the right. The options displayed are:
- Capture from Scanner: Allows you to trigger the scanner again, rather than having to close the window and open it again by selecting Scan.
- Capture from Folder: Allows you to capture .TIF files from a local, or networked folder location. Also useful for network scanners.
- Settings: Allows you to choose various settings for the Desktop App.
- Select All, Deselect All, Remove and Rotate allow you to apply the action to the selected pages.
- The Green button in the File To field allows you to begin the Filing process of the selected pages immediately.
- Select File Document in green. This immediately submits the document for filing. This will remove the selected pages from the Desktop App Capture window and open the Filing screen and begin the Filing process.
If you are scanning or capturing documents for them to be filed later, you can use the two Green options in the Folder field.
